Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp
Teaming For Night Stalker?

Johnny Depp’s attempt to bring TV’s Night Stalker to the big screen is coming one step closer to reality. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Edgar Wright is in talks to direct the Disney adaptation.

Wright has never worked with Disney or Depp, but he has shown his ability to work with different genres in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

Night Stalker began life as an unpublished Jeff Rice novel turned into a 1972 ABC made-for-TV movie. That soon evolved into a TV series that lasted for a season. The show revolved around Carl Kolchak (played by Darren McGavin), a newspaper reporter who found himself investigating supernatural events. Depp is looking to play the lead.

Given Wright’s past at mixing action and horror genres with comedy, it might be interesting to see him do a more straightforward horror/drama.

What? You mean that Depp’s not doing this with Tim Burton so he can piss all over it? I didn’t think they could take a dump without each other.

Wait. A straightforward Horror/drama? Have you ever watched the original “Night Stalker”? It was, and is, a laugh a minute. Hope they don’t ruin this like they did Jump Street.
