Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis Join Vegas Period Drama Pilot

Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis are heading west in an unnamed CBS pilot set in 1960s Las Vegas, Variety reports. The show focuses on real-life sheriff Ralph Lamb (played by Quaid), who used to be a rodeo cowboy in the rodeo before becoming Sin City’s top lawman. Chiklis plays Johnny Savino, a mobster who runs up against Lamb.

The show has a pretty impressive pedigree behind it, with creators like Greg Walker, who wrote and produced on Smallville and Without a Trace, and Nicholas Pileggi, who penned the books and screenplays for Casino and Goodfellas. The pilot even scored director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma, Cop Land, The Wolverine).

More Mad Men type action, only in Las Vegas?  Interesting.  I hope they also get some good directors involved like Reggie Hudlin..
