Not a fan of this casting call. She should have “pixie” hair. Not hair that is pulled back. A little too tall for Maria Hill to be as well.

I think she will do all right.  I’m anxious to see.  I would’ve liked to see her with her comic book haircut though.

    Yep, should have been
    Morena Baccarin

I don’t think she is bitchy enough and she needs shorter hair.

  • lead_sharp

Are you really bitching about the hotteness that is, Cobie Smulders?

  • Bluv3350

She’s good looking and all, but I agree: not bitchy enough and no short hair = failure.

  • Nycguy616

whats the deal with the hair!!?? jeez she’s freakin’ awesome for this part! and she can do ‘bitchy’ if she wants. check out how i met your mother!!

  • Magnusjragnarok

She is totally going to rock this part. I hope they make her as much of a bad-ass as she was during Civil War. I would love it if she punked one of the main heroes.

  • Guest

Yeah man, the fact that she doesn’t have short hair is really going to ruin the movie…

See, that’s the problem with great comedy.  I can’t see this woman without “Let’s Go To The Mall” playing in my mind.  She’s going to need to be EXTREMELY convincing in this to shake that, but the stills aren’t doing it so far …

  • Scubadg

Cobie Smulders is freaking hot! With her and Scarlett Johanson the Avengers is going to have plenty of eye candy!

  • Guest6287

She has the mean face correct, but isn’t as stacked as comic Maria Hill. Then again, who would be? Odd that they didn’t give her the haircut but that’s not a big deal. I think she’s well cast.

  • Awesome1

Yes yes, that’s right. THE HAIR will ruin the movie.

    Sheesh.

  • kalorama

For those complaining she’s not “bitchy” enough (whatever the hell that means) . . . you do realize that she’s an actress right? And that the way she behaves on how I Met Your Mother is just a character that’s been written to behave that way?  And that if her character in Avengers is written to be “bitchy” then that’s how she’ll behave?

This isn’t a rhetorical question, BTW. I seriously wonder whether people actually understand this.

  • Travis

Like I said. Not a fan of a casting call. Never said I was not excited about the movie. GEEEEZZZZ!

    let’s go to the mall…

This looks fine to me. I like the indications of the technology, like the helicarrier layout. It will be great to see some of these long-established gadgets and vessels on screen.

I am a bit underwhelmed by the stuff that has come out on the Avengers so far. I read somewhere that Marvel loved Whedon’s stuff, but was a bit concerned that he was not “cinematic” enough. I’m not sure what that means, but it might refer to the sense I’ve had that the picture is not quite grand enough, and that its scale is not quite as spectacular as it needs to be. Partially, this may be because many of the most powerful characters, at least as established in their own movies, as not really as powerful as they need to be to credibly repulse an alien invasion. Anyway, that’s just my sense of it. I’m stil looking forward to the movie.Just two more months to go!

I’m glad they made the monitor screens on the helecarrier more futuristic after I criticized their use of flatscreen tvs in the Coulter/Thor promo pic!

    Maria Hill is a Skrull!

  • Patrick

I was thinking the same thing “she looks too sweet to be Maria Hill”

  • Orphan

I really hope you and others get the movie you are hoping for out of this.If nothing else the last thing we fans need is another Green Lantern, but I don’t see this mish moss of disparate characters not being laughed off the screen by the wider audience. What works as a comic book may not work as a feature film. I think the Shield tie in was way too early despite the Iron Man 2 intro and along with Black Widow and Maria Hill just adds unnecessary layers that will lead to total confusion plotwise.A Shield movie with Fury,BW,and Hill might have been fun,but added to the overall plotline of the Avengers is just dead weight to me,but we will see.

Interesting. She was Whedon’s choice for his Wonder Woman project, and I just don’t see her as Wonder Woman at all.

  • Ian Thal

I think what many of you are missing is that “The Avengers” tells the origin story of Maria Hill’s short hair style and these stills are from an early scene before she encounters the stylist!

  • AnonymousCoward

“Partially, this may be because many of the most powerful characters, at least as established in their own movies, as not really as powerful as they need to be to credibly repulse an alien invasion.”

“And there came a day, a day unlike any other… when Earth’s mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat… to fight the foes no single superhero could withstand… on that day, The Avengers were born. ” – Nick Fury [at San Diego Comic-Convention]

oh look at that. you figured out the whole point of The Avengers. Good for you.

Boy, you’re an obnoxious little snot, aren’t you? It’s amazing what anonymity encourages.  My point is that, in the films, even collectively, the Avengers, with the possible exception of Thor, don’t seem powerful enough to repulse an alien invasion. Iron Man, for example, is barely a match for a few standard American fighter jets. Cap is just a foot soldier. The Black Widow is a well-trained spy and Hawkeye just shoots arrows. The Hulk is very powerful, but he is still just muscle. I suppose one could object that this is true of the characters in the comics too and that the entire idea of a small team of superheroes fighting off an alien invasion is contingent on the aliens being really weak and incompetent. But if this is a flaw in the entire premise, then it is not going to translate well to the big screen.

wonder if Iron Man or Thor are going to try the Naked Man on her

I see what you did here.

I’m excited about Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.  She looks great, is a fine actress, so should be a no brainer!
