X-POSITION: Phoenix, Upstarts & More Tear Up Bowers & Sims' "X-Men '92"
Hot on the heels of the announcement that Disney is working on a sequel to The Muppets, Collider reports that star and co-writer Jason Segel won’t be returning for the follow-up. Previous reports indicated that Segel wouldn’t be collaborating with Nicholas Stoller on the script, but his total lack of involvement in the sequel is certainly news to fans of the movie franchise he was instrumental in relaunching.
“It’s true [that I won’t be in the Muppets sequel] but it’s totally amicable,” Segel told Collider. “My goal was to bring The Muppets back and I did that leaving them in very good hands, my writing partner and James Bobin the director. I did what I set out to do, and now I wanna pursue more human-related projects.”
The How I Met Your Mother star went on to say that he’s open to returning in some capacity, but that, after spending five years working on the original movie, he just needs some time away to work on other projects.
