Film, Comic Books
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer this morning unveiled the first look at Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in Disney’s big-budget Western The Lone Ranger. While Hammer’s Lone Ranger may be a little more dapper than in previous depictions, Depp’s Tonto marks a complete departure for the character.
Directed by Gore Verbinski, The Lone Ranger also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter. It opens May 31, 2013.
The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice — taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
