French director Alexandre Aja, known for such horror films as Haute Tension, The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha 3D, is in talks to helm an adaptation of the Image Comics miniseries Undying Love for Warner Bros., Deadline reports.
Created by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, the comic is described as “a horror-action tale, equal parts vampire mythology and Chinese folklore.”
Set in modern Hong Kong, Undying Love follows ex-soldier John Sargent, who follows for a beautiful woman named Mei only to discover she’s a vampire. To free Mei from her curse, Sargent must destroy the powerful vampire that created her and battle an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.
Warner Bros. acquired the film rights in July. Michael De Luca, Stephen L’Heureux and Benderspink are producing.
