Netflix Could Rescue Terra Nova

Reports earlier in the week that Fox has canceled its time-travel dino-drama Terra Nova included news that the series is being shopped to other networks. Now word emerges from Deadline that 20th Century Fox TV has begun early talks with Netflix to see whether the streaming/DVD service would be interested in picking up the big-budget project.

Netflix is slowly moving into the world of original content by creating new shows in the vein of the Steven Van Zant-starring Lilyhammer or the upcoming rebirth of another Fox series Arrested Development. Terra Nova performs well both overseas and on DVR, but is also costly, so Fox has to figure out a deal with someone with enough bank to make the whole thing worthwhile. Maybe these dinos aren’t quite extinct yet.

I thought the show had its up and downs but overall I enjoyed it.  What really excited me was the premise they set up for the second season. For those that didn’t see the finale, at the very end they found part of a ship from the 16th century buried outside Terra Nova.  OMG WTF !?!?!? .  . . . . .

Wasn’t this show really expensive?  I don’t see how Netflix could afford to film this show.

I really wanted to like this show, but I found it pretty boring when dinosaurs weren’t trying to eat people.  Also, the only character that I liked was the military leader. Still it was a sci-fi show, and they’re aren’t enough of those left on TV, so I kept watching.
