Soule Finds a Weakness in the Afterlife, Discusses Surprise "Inhuman" Return
Fans of Joss Whedon in general and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog specifically, take note: A follow-up will hopefully be coming soon! Whedon talked to Wired while at SXSW getting folks excited about Cabin in the Woods, but the conversation quickly turned to the status of the ridiculously popular web series that Whedon created with his brothers Zack and Jed as well as Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed’s wife.
Whedon hadn’t been able to work on the follow-up due to a full workload, between producing and hyping Cabin In the Woods and directing both The Avengers and Much Ado About Nothing, but did say an outline is complete as are a few songs.
The original series, which came about during the writers strike, follows the adventures of the titular doctor, an evil super-genius played by Neil Patrick Harris, who falls in love with a girl named Penny (Felicia Day), who also caught the eye of local superhero Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). The biggest problem with the sequel, aside from writing the actual story, Whendon said, is figuring out everyone’s schedules, as Fillion and Harris have network acting gigs (Castle and How I Met Your Mother, respectively).
“We’re stuck, basically, at this one part in the process,” Whedon said. “All of us are looking at this summer as the time when we can go, ‘Hey, you know what? We’ve got a little free time, let’s get unstuck.’ Neil has been like, ‘How long?’ We’re all sort of just waiting, but the waiting will stop.” So are the fans, Joss, so are the fans.
