NYCC: Campbell, Raimi & "Ash vs Evil Dead" Cast Slash Into New York
Now that Larry and Lana Wachowski are finally finished with their collaboration with Larry Twyker adapting David Mitchell’s time-spanning epic novel Cloud Atlas, they’re looking to move on to their next, mysterious project Jupiter Ascending. While details on the film are being kept tightly under wraps, we do know the movie is supposed to be another original sci-fi experience that will surely be compared to The Matrix.
The original reports about the film first said that Natalie Portman was in talks to star, but now we hear from Deadline that her Black Swan co-star Mila Kunis has been offered the lead role along with Channing Tatum. It’s possible Kunis and Portman could co-star, but it seems more likely that the former replaced the latter.
Tatum has been on a roll lately between 21 Jump Street, The Vow and the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
A lot might be riding on the success of both Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending for the writing and directing siblings. Basically, they could use another hit. Sure the Matrix movies made Warner Bros. nearly$2 billion, but even that line of creative and financial credit has a shelf life, and an even shorter one in Hollywood.
