EXCL. PREVIEW: Riverdale's Next Mayor Has Archie in His Crosshairs in "Archie" #8
Man of Action Studios — comics and television creators Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly and Steven T. Seagle — producers of Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 franchise and Disney XD’s upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man, is developing three new projects for film, TV and the Internet, The Live Feed reports.
Rouleau’s 2009 Image Comics miniseries The Great Unknown, about a slacker whose ideas are being stolen from his head, is being developed as a film with producer Mark Gordon (Speed, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).
Kafka, the first professional work of Seagle and artist Stefano Gaudiano, is being prepped for television with the Kenneth Branagh Co. Originally published in the 1980s, the Eisner-nominated noir thriller centers on a former government agent with an unusual ability who learns his new identity has been compromised.
In the digital arena, Casey and artist Jim Mahfood are working with producer Scott Mosier (Zack and Miri Make a Porno) on Disco Destroyer, a series of animated shorts for MTV’s relaunched Liquid Television, to appear online and possibly on the network’s many cable channels.
“Disco Destroyer combines ’70s muscle-car culture with the battle for humanity’s salvation,” Casey told The Live Feed. “The ironic thing is that Ben 10 is the show that was a real departure from what I do. Sometimes it’s tough being a rated-R guy in a rated-G media space, but Disco Destroyer gives me that chance to indulge in subject matter that’s a little closer to my own twisted sensibilities.”
