Colin Farrell Drops Out of
Troubled Arthur & Lancelot

David Dobkin’s Arthur & Lancelot hasn’t had an easy go of things. First we heard that Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington would star in the medieval tale, but a month later the rising budget put the film at risk. Soon after that the film seemed back on with Colin Farrell ready to star as Lancelot.

But, alas, Deadline now reports that Farrell will no longer be participating. Scheduling conflicts were noted as the reason, especially because a physically intensive film like this would require months of training. Warner Bros. seemed to be looking for marquee actors to take the leads after dropping Harington and Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, RoboCop). Names like Gary Oldman and James McAvoy have been rumored to star as Merlin and Arthur, respectively.

Dobkin’s take on the Camelot legend reportedly depicts Arthur as an illegitimate son raised by a poor knight in a village who’ll grow up to be the ruler of England. Lancelot, on the other hand, is a rebellious noble with a distrust of government. Guinevere will play only a minor role, but will be featured more prominently in potential sequels.

This is stupid can we just get a remake of Excalibur that will do it justice maybe expand some things the movie is from the 80s and still covers the story pretty well the sets are beautifully constructed everything is so realistically functional it was great. I could see with an all-star cast it being the best Arthurian movie yet again everything else has been found lacking.
