Castle Nerds Out With Firefly Reunion, Zombie Episode

When it comes to getting geeky, ABC’s crime procedural Castle doesn’t mind diving in. If you’re unfamiliar with the basic concept, novelist Richard Castle (played by Firefly‘s Nathan Fillion) follows Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) on cases as research for his books. The show has featured episodes built around steampunk, comics and haunted houses, as well as a few nods to Fillion’s role as Captain Mal Reynolds. Producers plan to continue both traditions with episodes before season’s end.

First up, on the April 16 episode, Fillion’s Firefly and Serenity co-star Adam Baldwin (Jane) will guest star. TVLine scored early images and also reported that Baldwin plays another New York City detective the novelist will follow for story inspiration. Much like his Firefly character, though, Baldwin’s Ethan Slaughter turns out to be a bit rough around the edges.

TVLine also reports that the penultimate episode of the season will be zombie-themed. Titled “Undead Again,” the episode will air on April 30 as a way to lighten the mood before the dramatic season finale. As with other supernaturally themed episodes, the clues will most likely point Castle’s fantastical imagination down the road of the walking dead until they find out the actual cause of death. “Zombies are very much in the zeitgeist, and we thought it was something that was worth tackling,” series creator Andrew W. Marlowe told the site.

Love this freakin’ show, but hoping they hook up Castle and Beckett before too long.  The wait is finally getting to me.

great show. Love Adam Baldwin. Nice to see him back on TV now that Chuck and his role in Transformers Prime are both done. (was hoping to see Nathan guest-star on TFPrime along with regulars Adam and Gina Torres, but alas…wasn’t meant to be…)

So nice to see them both in the same frame again!  This is a do-not-miss.
