X-Men Sequel to Shoot in January

In addition to securing The Hunger Games director Gary Ross, Lionsgate had another major worry about Catching Fire, the follow-up to the dystopian blockbuster: a potential scheduling conflict with the sequel to the 2011 surprise hit X-Men: First Class, which had contractual dibs on Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique.

But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox will begin shooting X-Men in January, freeing Lionsgate to kick off production in August or September.

Matthew Vaughn will return to direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class, which grossed $353 million worldwide, joined by most of the cast. Simon Kinberg, who wrote X-Men: Last Stand, is penning the screenplay.

“Simon Kinberg, who wrote X-Men: Last Stand, is penning the screenplay.”

W T F ??????  First Class is easily the second best super hero film ever made (1st being Dark Knight), and for the script writer they chose the guy who wrote the script for one of the WORST super hero films ever made (Last Stand)????  WTF are they thinking?????

They had me at Matthew Vaughn & LOST me at Simon Kinberg. That man shouldn’t be allowed near a comic book store let alone writing a movie about the X-Men.

Last Stand is also the most successful movie of the franchise easily outdoing First Class by about a 100 million.  So, when you think about it, your opinion is pretty worthless, not to mention uninformed, in the producers’ eyes.  In fact Kinberg could rightly say, “Fuck you dude – I wrote the monst succesful X-Men film AND produced the film you also think is the second best super hero film ever made.  What the fuck do you know?”

That would be cool to see Kinberg throw down on you and totally own your ass.

Had no idea the chick playing young Mystique is also the chick from Hunger Games.  Wow – I’ve seen her titties, eventhough they were blue.  Cool.

Where your feet at Blue Man?  Where your feet at?

But you’re still going to see the First Class sequel anyway so Kinberg owns your ass as well.

Why would this young lady coming off the huge success of Hunger Games even want to make time for X Men 2nd Class? I’m not knocking X-Men here but as successful as it was didn’t do the box office that Hunger Games is doing.Quite frankly all these young actors are pretty much lookalikes these days and a completely different actress in the Mystique role in blue or any other color wouldn’t make much difference.I thought the deal was all these actors were set to go to avoid the problems they ran into getting everybody together for Wolverine Part 0…I’m sorry X-men Last Stand.

She’s under contract for an X-Men sequel; she doesn’t have much of a choice.

As I reread this the shootings are staggered by a few months so allowing for total burn out I suppose it could be done.Keeping her hand in both franchises would be smart on her part, but contracts on both ends can be broken and she has more screen identification with the HG character than X-Men.If she or any of the secondary cast were replaced who would really care?Who knew HG was gonna explode like this? Maybe Part 2 will do as well maybe not.

Are you implying that Kinberg’s contribution as a producer to First Class somehow makes up for writing the worst reviewed X-Men film and that fans should be happy he is writing FC2?
