Game of Thrones Holds Strong,
Draws 3.8 Million Viewers

In an accomplishment worthy of Baelor the Blessed, Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones attracted 3.8 million viewers in its initial airing, retaining an impressive 97 percent of the 3.9 million that tuned in for the record-setting Season 2 premiere of the HBO fantasy drama. An additional 1.1 million watched the 11 p.m. encore.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network boasts that, when data from encore showings, On Demand and HBO Go are factored in, last week’s premiere attracted 7.5 million viewers.

Despite the stellar ratings, HBO has yet to announce a third-season renewal for the series. A pick-up seems preordained, but maybe executives are waiting for the right moment.
