SDCC: Warner Bros. Film with "Suicide Squad," "Wonder Woman" and More
Cobie Smulders appeared last night on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman, where she introduced the second clip from Marvel’s The Avengers, this one featuring her character S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury responding to an emergency apparently triggered by the “tesseract,” otherwise known as the Cosmic Cube.
While Hill is focused on evacuation, Fury is a more concerned about the removal of the “Phase II prototypes.” “Until such time as the world ends,” Fury says, “we will act as though it intends to spin on.”
It’s probably worth noting that with these first clips — last week’s Scarlett Johansson/Black Widow snippet and now this one — Marvel is playing up the two female characters in the male-dominated ensemble film.
Opening May 4, director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson and Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Selvig.
Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures Marvel’s The Avengers — the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.
