Is an Office Reboot in the Works?

When we first heard Steve Carrell would leave The Office at the end of the seventh season, it seemed like a huge change for the NBC sitcom. Ed Helms stepped in to fill the role in more ways than one, but the changes haven’t stopped there: Actress, producer and writer Mindy Kaling set up a new sitcom at Fox, while rumors began to circulate about a Dwight-centric spinoff that would not only take Rainn Wilson away from the show, but also showrunner and actor Paul Lieberstein.

Now Deadline reports that Greg Daniels, who brought the British comedy to the United States, has a meeting to pitch NBC what’s being called The Office 2.0. The series wouldn’t be completely new, but rather would feature some existing cast members — although likely missing original cast members John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak, whose contracts expire at the end of this season, and Helms.

Some reports contend the cast wants to return for a ninth season, but we probably won’t know what’s really happening for a while.

This show started off as an americanized version of a british masterpiece that took on a life of its own.  That life has run it’s course.  It’s time to take it off of life support and let it die… well passed time, in my opinion.

Yeah, see I’m the opposite – I’ve been really enjoying the latest series as much as the previous ones.  In addition, it stacks up well against at least 90% of the drivel that comprises “TV Comedy.”  I’d prefer to watch a ninth season than have to tolerate “Two Girls,” or “Big Bang Theory” or the friggin’ “Simpsons” again.

I thought the current season of the Office was a reboot.

This quickly went from my favorite show to something I try to avoid. Ever since the storyline where Sabre bought the office, I haven’t liked any of the new characters and the old staff has become somewhat unlikable. I used to pity them in all of the awkwardness that they had to go through. Now they just seem like greedy, suck-ups. They took this group as far as they could go, now they’re just treading water.

I like the show, I like the current direction it’s been taking but I can’t ignor the raiting which have been dropping fast. I expect a spinoff a reboot or cancellation. considering the powerhose the show was in the past i see some sort of reboot on the horizon even if it takes a couple of years.
