The Wolverine to Film in Australia

Fox’s The Wolverine, which was thought to be heading to British Columbia, instead will be filmed largely in Sydney, Australia, hometown of star Hugh Jackman, The Daily Telegraph reports. Much of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was shot at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney in 2008.

“It is a testament to our screen industry that Hugh Jackman and his team have chosen to come back to Australia after such a positive experience making the X-Men Origins,” said New South Wales Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner, who helped to secure the deal with Fox. The production, scheduled to begin in August, is expected to generate more than 2,000 jobs for the area, including opportunities for 720 extras.

Directed by James Mangold, the film is based in part on the 1982 Wolverine miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, and has Logan battling ninjas, Silver Samurai and the politics of the Tokyo criminal underworld for the heart of his ex-lover, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord. The screenplay was penned by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects), with rewrites by Mark Bomback (Total Recall).

The Wolverine was delivered twin setbacks in March 2011 with the devastating earthquake in Japan, where much of the story takes place, and the surprise departure of Darren Aronofsky, who was unwilling to be out of the United States, away from his family, for the duration of the production. While Jackman and the studio were committed to finding a new director and moving forward with the project — Mangold was hired in June — questions remained as to whether, in the wake of the disaster, a big-budget action movie could still be shot in Japan. Production was further delayed by Jackman’s commitment to Les Misérables, which began filming last month.

The Wolverine opens July 26, 2013.

Ok,… They’re Drowning the Wolverine character out. What about some Other Mutants for a Change, Like Colosus, or Cable maybe? They started the Deadpool character pretty well, how about a follow up? Don’t get me wrong, Wolverine is cool, but they’ve pretty much covered him in the Origins movie.  just say’n …………………….

    Dolph Lundgren for Cable!

lol Silver Samurai isn’t even in that miniseries.

Hence “based in part.” Silver Samurai appears in Uncanny X-Men #172-174, which is a coda of sorts to the miniseries.

I’d like to see Wolverine wear at least one of the comic book costumes, if not the original than one of the other many different versions.  The real Wolverine hasn’t appeared in the movies, at least not yet. In the comics he seems a little more vicious, he wasn’t very nice in the Japan-Silver Samurai period.  I liked those stories.

     Hugh!~! Are you li
    stening… Are you there!!!

Check your self before you wreck yourself, holmes. Your last Wolvie movie was 20th century. You got to think 21st Century in this one,… cuz you’ *()Kn up. That Origins movie was like watching a diver dive, nice jump, beautifully execut-Nawww!!-Belly flop: SPLAT. Ya’done.

So, if the got shot in the head, then there would be permanent adamantium holes in his head… -See how successful the Marvel Studios pictures are, cuz they RESPECT the fan-based aspects of the character’s integrity -Like they guy was totally taken advantage of: Dude had electric shite prodded in his body with some kind of monitoring helmet the scientists placed on his sorry-@ss head while he was their mutant bitch. That’s brutal and he was made to then to some f’up brutal stuff. The guy can still FELL and REACT to PAIN,… the only way he could of lost his memory would had simply been the adamantium bonding to his skull… thats it. He aint got no holes in his adamantium head… that whole scene and process leading up to Striker shooting him washed away the brand identity, -you especially washed away a hard-core fan base. Congrats!!!

And the DEADPOOL RAPING YOU SHOWED -you should be ashamed of yourself for warping the already delightfully warped original version of Deadpool.

Seriously, Hugh… All things considered: you produce movies, world famous actor/singer/dancer, you are an X-MAN -Are you a whore, too? Like, as if you do not have the experience, resources, and interest (I honestly do believe that you really like this character and have respect for Marvel comics’ Wolverine), so that tells me that you purposely SOLD-OUT when you produced, and starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. See how successful CAPTAIN AMERICA, THOR, and AVENGERS movies are???? Thats because they dont sell out like Superman Returns, most of X-men 1, all of X-men 3, Spider-man 3, Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four 1, Fantastic Four 2 and your movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. See the pattern??? If you dont then you suck. If you do then get ready for some moneeeey outta my waleeeeet. Thaz right, Hugh-dawg. I got ten dollars right here waiting to spend on a movie ticket in a theater (NOT DOWNLOADED) only if you can show us all if you actually have any pull in Hollywood or not. Cuz this is it, people know now that the super-hero genre is not crap, its American movies about super-heroes that have had mainly been crap. Thanks to Kevin Feige, Quesada and Whedon this will change very soon… Notice how all of these people have Marvel’s best interest in mind, instead of turning their own character-based assets into … your chump version of Deadpool…
