Captain America, Agent Coulson Star in Eighth Avengers Clip

Clark Gregg appeared today on PBS’s Tavis Smiley, where he introduced the eighth clip from Marvel’s The Avengers, featuring his fan-favorite Phil Coulson character being somewhat starstruck by Captain America (Chris Evans). “It’s an honor to meet you … officially,” the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent gushes. “I sort of met you. I mean, I watched you. While you were sleeping. I mean, I was present … while you were unconscious.”

Opening May 4, director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Selvig.

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures Marvel’s The Avengers — the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Old fassion? I rally hope there was some character development that led o that moment. Can’t picture an American named captain America who was just thawed out of ice thought the stars and stripes were old fashioned.

They should have shown cap clips of Apollo Creed when he was thawed out, maybe a model In an American flag swimsuit.

Might want to avoid the guys in American flag jumpsuits and polos, I don’t think they make those smaller than a XXL

My advice – don’t drink and blog.

To Lee – From the way Rogers says that, I get the impression he’s already had a chance to see the “new world” and discover just how different it is from the one he knew. It almost sounds like he’s even a bit depressed by it as well, and probably figures the uniform would be considered too old fashion to those in the new world, not himself. Joss Whedon (who I do not care and am praying does not ruin this film) has said “The Avengers” is largely told from Cap’s POV as he struggles to adjust to the contemporary world.

It honestly fits Steve’s self-image.  He might be a big buff dude with speed and strength, but it wasn’t that long ago that he was just a scrawny kid from Brooklyn.  He isn’t flashy like Tony Stark, he never wanted to be a star and he’s a bit humble.  He may also feel the world is different now, and doesn’t care about old-fashioned values.  So it made sense to me.

I’m using over the top humor your making things personal.

I’m not sure Cap ever liked wearing the uniform in TFA. I think he minded the more military style one less, but he never explicitly states he likes it. I’d say just being ho-hum about the suit in general, not to mention very aware that a more cynical 21st century probably does find it “old-fashioned” makes him a little apprehensive, which makes sense.

Also, love the subtleties of both Chris and Clark’s performances here. Some of their facial expressions are worth 20 lines apiece.

Had the privilege of seeing it tonight, opening night here in Australia, and I can say it’s an awesome film!

It’s not personal – I don’t know you at all. But the lack of care concerning the way you present your comments (spelling, grammar) is not unlike that of a epileptic person with dyslexia.  I’m sure you’re a funny guy, but the way you present your comments is just confusing.  The humour is lost.

No offense, but I’ve seen the Avengers film.  You should be getting on your knees and kissing Joss Whedon’s ass repeatedly.  And then sending him flowers.  And then a Thank You card.  Then you should send him chocolates and a Gorrilla Gram.

    Yep – IT’S THAT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The post credits scene – I had a nerd-attack.  Let’s just say your jaw will absolutely drop as to who’s going to appear in Avengers 2!!!!!!!!!
