According to Deadline, his Hugo- and Newbery-winning 2008 children’s novel The Graveyard Book will now follow Startdust and Coraline to the big screen in a feature from Disney and Henry Selick, who directed The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach (as well as the aforementioned Coraline). Gil Netter and Ben Browning will produce.
The story focuses on a young boy named Nobody Owens. After his parents are murdered, Nobody spends his days in a graveyard, where he is raised by ghosts. Eventually he comes in contact with his parents’ killer “the Man Jack.” Gaiman infused the book with many of the supernatural, fantastical and dramatic elements he’s known for.
