INTERVIEW: Gail Simone Guides 'Blockbuster Update' of Red Sonja, Vampirella and Dejah Thoris
TV Guide reports that Darabont regular Jeffrey DeMunn, whose character Dale was killed in the final episodes of Season 2, and Andrew Rothenberg, whose character Jim died in Season 1, will join fellow Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal in the period crime drama.
Based on John Buntin’s acclaimed 2009 book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City, the project chronicles the true-life battle between former police chief William Parker and mobster Mickey Cohen for control of Los Angeles in the 1940s and ’50s. The network describes the series as a fast-paced crime drama set in “a world of glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads, returning war heroes, a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make L.A. its West Coast base.”
Bernthal stars as Joe Teague, a fictional cop caught in the moral gray zone between Parker and Cohen. DeMunn plays Hal Morrison, the detective at the head of the Los Angeles Police Department’s mob squad, while Rothenberg guest stars as Eddy Sanderson, a member of his team. The cast also includes Heroes alum Milo Ventimiglia and Justified actor Neal McDonough.
