AMC Renews "Preacher" for Season 2
TV, Comic Books
The beginning of summer can be a rough one for TV fans. Sure, the weather is getting nicer, but all your favorite shows are ending and some might not be coming back. We’ve already heard the good news that NBC renewed Community, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Up All Night and The Office, and found out that Fox axed Alcatraz and The Finder while keeping Touch around for another year.
The news keeps on rolling in ahead of next week’s upfront presentations, with The Hollywood Reporter passing along word that NBC is also bringing back Parenthood, Grimm, Smash and Law & Order: SVU.
Meanwhile, ABC also announced a total of seven renewals: freshman shows Revenge, Once Upon a Time and Suburgatory, as well as more established series Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Modern Family and The Middle. THR also explained that beleaguered comedy Cougar Town will jump networks to TBS for its fourth season.
The trade paper also got the scoop on Fox’s animated block of shows, dubbed “Animation Domination.” The Simpsons has been renewed for another two years for a while now, but the network also committed to new seasons of the Seth MacFarlane-created Family Guy and American Dad through the 2013-2014 season. MacFarlane’s other show, Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show, got picked up for another season, but it’s future beyond that is murky. Bob’s Burger‘s was renewed already, Allen Gregory got canned and it’s not looking good for Napoleon Dynamite.
