In addition to picking up the Green Arrow series Arrow and the Kristin Kruek-starring Beauty and the Beast, The CW also renewed the Maggie Q-starring Nikita and canceled the Sarah Michelle Gellar vehicle Ringer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The next season will be the third for Nikita‘s, which also stars Shane West and follows the adventures of Maggie Q’s secret agent as she attempts to bring down the organization that trained her and led to her fiance’s death.
The cancellation of Ringer might come as something of a surprise, given the amount of excitement swirling around the project, especially as it marked Gellar’s return to television. The series also starred Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four) and Nestor Carbonell (Lost) and counted comic book writer Jay Faerber (Near Death) among its writing staff. According to the trade paper, the show just had trouble keeping a consistent audience.
