With the teaser trailer for the eagerly anticipated Anchorman sequel debuting today with The Dictator, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first poster for the Adam McKay/Will Ferrell comedy, now called (fittingly enough) Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
Officially announced in March, the follow-up to the much-loved, and often-quoted, movie reunites the KVWN-TV Action News team: Ferrell as anchor Ron Burgundy, Christina Applegate as anchor Veronica Corningstone, Steve Carell as weatherman Brick Tamland, Paul Rudd as reporter Brian Fantana, and David Koechner as sportscaster Champion “Champ” Kind.
Set to begin shooting in February for a late-2013 release, the sequel will be set in the late 1970s, just as television newscasts began to change with the 24-hour news cycle. “All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors,” McKay told Empire, “and any time you’re talking about diversity and the Action News team, that’s always fun to deal with.”
Presumably the teaser trailer will appear online later today.
