Courtesy of DCU Movie Page arrives a lo-res look at the teaser poster for Summit Entertainment’s RED 2 making the rounds at the Cannes Film Festival.
Directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), RED 2 is the sequel to the surprise-hit 2010 action-comedy loosely based on the DC Comics miniseries by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. RED — it’s an acronym for “retired, extremely dangerous” — centered on former CIA agents targeted for assassination because of the secrets they know. Directed by Robert Schwentke, the $60 million movie exceeded box-office expectations, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide.
The follow-up reunites Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren “as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.” They’re joined by newcomers Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-Hun Lee for the film, which opens Aug. 2, 2013.
