Ayer Reveals Jared Leto's Tattooed "Suicide Squad" Joker
When it comes to blockbuster sci-fi films, we’re used to seeing one of three things: a sequel/remake (Star Trek), a book adaptation (Ender’s Game) or a well-respected director doing his own thing (Prometheus, which technically fits into the first category as well, but you get the idea). We’re not used to seeing commercial directors jumping in feet first at large studios, but that’s what Heat Vision reports is happening with The Wind at Warner Bros.
The project, which is supposed to be a secret, but apparently isn’t, has commercial director Nic Mathieu at the helm working off a script by David Koepp.
Koepp has Men in Black 3 opening this weekend, but that’s just one chapter in the book of his success, which includes scripts for Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds and the upcoming Jack Ryan film. It’s pretty unusual for a studio to green light a completely original film like this, but even more so when you consider Mathieu’s lack of feature experience. Maybe that’s why they were trying to keep things quiet, though, to see how he does and whether it will actually work out.
