Tom Brevoort Talks "Civil War II," the New Marvel NOW! and DC's "Rebirth"
At one point, Ridley Scott’s return to the world of science fiction was going to go from his Alien-related Prometheus right into a sequel to Blade Runner. Instead, though, Scott signed on to helm The Counselor, a screenplay about a drug-dealing lawyer written by Cormac McCarthy.
But Blade Runner 2‘s still in the works, with Scott recently saying the film will feature strong female lead. That doesn’t mean there’s no room for Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard, however.
“I don’t think it’ll be Harry [starring],” Scott told The Independent. “But I’ve got to have him in it somewhere. That’d be amusing.”
Rumors swirled in February that the producers were in talks with Ford, that ended up not being the case. However, when the producers responded, it sounded like they were saying he just hadn’t been talked to at that time because the script hadn’t even been finished. Scott’s comments seem to endorse this theory. It will be interesting to see how Scott and company do incorporate Ford into the film. Do replicants age?
