Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz Closing in on Kick-Ass 2 Deals
For a film that didn’t seem like it was going anywhere a few months ago, things sure have picked up for Kick-Ass 2. In addition to recently securing the film with Universal Pictures and bringing Jeff Wadlow in to take over directing duties from producer Matthew Vaughn, the filmmakers are, according to Deadline, very close to sealing a deal for the return of original film stars Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz. Both young actors have moved on to other roles and, as the site explains, sequel clauses were not worked into the original contracts, so there is still a possibility that other bodies might need to come in to fill the superhero suits.
Kick-Ass, based on the comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., follows the adventures of young Dave Lizewski (Johnson) as he decides to become a real life superhero and, well, gets his ass kicked, joined by others like the ultra-violent little lady assassin named Hit-Girl (Moretz). Millar recently said that while the movie sequel will have some differences from the comic, it will essentially adapt aspects of the new Hit-Girl miniseries before moving into the story told in the Kick-Ass 2 comic.
