Avengers Assemble to Replace Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

A report has surfaced seemingly confirming months-old rumors that Disney XD’s Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has been canceled, to be replaced by a new animated series called Avengers Assemble. The second season debuted April 1 as part of the cable network’s new Marvel Universe programming block.

According to the Marvel TV News fan site, the news arrived in an official Marvel press release announcing “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be renewed for the 3rd Season. Marvel Animation will present their newly developed series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble in 2013.” It was accompanied by the Avengers Assemble promo image at right. However, when contacted by Spinoff Online, Marvel had no comment.

Developed by Marvel Animation in cooperation with Film Roman, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes premiered in October 2010, initially featuring the team’s original comic-book roster — Iron Man, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man and Wasp — which later expanded to include Captain America, Black Panther, Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel.

Avengers Assemble, like the recently launched Marvel comic series of the same name, to reflect the lineup of the blockbuster live-action film — Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye — plus the Falcon. Presumably additional details will be provided next month at Comic-Con International.

it might have action but it doesn’t hold what we love the original and only begining to the avengers and disney comes along and is trying to change marvel into what they like which will end up destroying marvel’s success cause it will lose like a lot of it’s viewers they shouldn’t tamper with greatness.

  • bob

ya disney is ruining marvel comics someone needs to do something before it’s to late or it might just ruin marvel forever

  • bob

they should just have falcon added to the rostor in emh instead of starting over and him being in a crappy show and i hope disney sees this and decides not to kill marvel because thats what they are doing am i right people.

  • bob

i can tell you what it was missing it did great in almost everything except two things
    1. they didn’t show most of iron man’s big villans and his arch enemy Mandarin like you need the arch enemy.
    2. also it didn’t show hawkeyes’ background and story with the circus and such they could of done a hawkeye movie with him with the circus and leaving and fighting his villans like the ringmaster and swordsman and such.
also i think right now in marvel they have shield tampering and interfering to much and over stepping their bounds because they weren’t like that in the comics and also wasn’t the original nick fury white cause i remember that from the 90s spider man show.

  • bob

no what most of is saying is not to kill they universe but keep it we are trying to say stop killing what is already there and works.

  • bob

ya next thing you know they are replacing wolverine and the x men with crap too.

  • bob

amen to that my brother besides like 95% of the people hate whats happening to marvel so a lot of people will be doing that and i hope disney relizes it and i just have to say disney is known for taking something already good and killing it.

  • bob

no great ratings but disney is trying to kill marvel like everything else it has taken and is doing this to promote the movie’s roster which was the one thing wrong with that movie like you have to have ant man and wasp.

  • bob

well wolverine and the x men was nickelodean’s falt which cause marvel to go towards disney and also i have to say spectacular spiderman was the second best the spiderman one from the 90s was the best.

  • bob

the movies’ roster is disneys’s way of changing marvel which is its death sentence it has to stop.

  • bob

or ant man disney has a stupid idea that they need to change the avengers but no it should stay the same with the original five ant man wasp ironman the hulk and thor

    This is really, really stupid.
Corporations are really getting way to much input on comic book properties.

  • Savonti

While that’s true, it’s the principle of the thing, and had I not already seen it twice, I would’ve passed on the Avengers movie too.

  • Savonti

I would like to point out that those are all things that very well could have been addressed had the series been allowed to continue. There’s plenty of material and while they sort of do their own things with it they’ve always been respectful. I’m sure some if not all of those points were things that would have been addressed in future seasons. Sadly, those seasons will never come.

  • bob

but the thing is those are the only things they did wrong which are big things but still it was a great show over all.

  • bob

ya they should just buy them and not say anything to change them just let them make their money the way they did before you bought them and you will still get your money instead of changing everything for the worse and costing yourself praboly a lot.

  • bundlop

This is sad. EMH had the potential of being 90′s x-men good. You could of worked in grea stoies with the entire universe. Another ‘great’ decision by mickey and co.

  • bob

ya and they are changing the history of all of its heroes espicially spiderman the changing what happened to him from accident to on purpose with his powers and him joining shield i am all like wtf disney stop srewing with good things

  • bob

we are all trying and it was almost 90s spiderman good too and mickey shuld just be kidnapped so he can to anymore harm and change things.

  • Harvir

i think this is a bad idea because you guys are cancelling the show without telling what goes on in the story like before you cancelled it you should at least tell what happens next

  • Jmelend58

when i saw that emh hinted towards marvel civil war in season 2 i was like heck yeah. i thought the show would keep going on and make a season about the civil war and everything in between. this could have literally been the marvel universe incarnate just like how young justice is the dc universe incarnate.

WHYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?!?!?!? i love Earths mightiest heroes, and why do we need a show to tie into the movies? couldnt we just wait for, oh i dont know… THE NEXT MOVIE? did the batman animated series have to tie into Batman Forever? no, it got to be its own thing and a great show that didnt talk down to its audience, and from some of the stuff i’ve read, Falcons in it just so the lil’ kiddie viewers have a “wet behind the ears” character to relate to. heaven forbid the viewers like characters for their complexities, faults, and quarks
            (sorry about the lengthy rant)

  • elrick43

so you’re saying that no ones allowed to take creative liberties ever again? we just have to repeat the same stories over and over for the rest of time? or are you implying that if they use a previously used, insignificant(in the long-run) adjective that they cant deviate? if a show like Ultimate Spiderman is considered bad despite its varied and genuine comedy and interesting look at the titular character, then what do you consider to be good?

  • elrick43

“unified brand”? havent they heard that variety is the spice of life? let the movies handle the ‘realistic’ takes on the characters, and give the cartoons the freedom of the comics. and i agree with the ‘non big 3/hulk’ thing, my favorite characters are Wasp and Black Panther.

  • Thor Odinson

man marvel sucks. This series was the best and they never tied up the Surter thing. :(. Oh well at least the last episode was good/great/awsome/made me geek out. Then again you can never go wrong with Galactus as the villan (unless youre Ultimate Spider-Man)

  • elrick43

the last episode just seemed rushed and out of left field.they also didnt wrap up the whole Surtur ans Twilight Sword thing. but yeah it was atleast good

  • elrick43

hasent Cap always been the leader in the comics since his joining? and Spidey’s been an avenger for a while before disney bought Marvel. but yeah disney SHOULD let them be. how many of Disney’s movie tie-in cartoons have lasted all that long? (i rest my case)

  • Takeru Takaishi

I swear Hank and Jan better be in this new show or I’m going to flip shit.

  • Czam

I can’t believe someone is getting paid to make such a stupid decision….

  • ezri

is wasp and ant man going to be in it too if not u suck!!!!!!!!!

  • Mytummyhurts

This is a mistake..EMH is great and included many elements of the mainstream classic marvel universe. Avengers Assembe bettter be fantastic but seeing as how it attmepts to accomodate the movie storyline I am preparing myself for disappointment. Nothing against the movie but I like EMH because it was true to much of the Marvel lore.

  • Yora

Well this is a huge disappointment. Avengers was the first Marvel cartoon I’ve actually liked since MTV’s take on Spiderman and Fox Kid’s X-Men in the early 1990s. I’ve been a DCAU fan because DC knows how to do cartoons and finally Marvel put something on the table that had the essence of the DCAU and that was Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

What made me like this show was that it wasn’t the film. It had characters I had never heard of and made me interested in their relationship to the characters that we do know.

Marvel, people don’t want a cartoon based upon a movie, they want a cartoon like EMH.

  • marvelbiggestfan

Are they gonna be on Disney XD or Cartoon Network?

  • Jjp7777

It could have been worse. At least Ultimate-Spiderman has Paul Dini on the team.
