Misfits to Make U.S. Debut

 

The hit British sci-fi drama, and Hulu sensation, Misfits will make its U.S. television debut July 19 on Logo, the Viacom-owned cable channel geared toward gay and lesbian viewers.

The BAFTA-winning series, which premiered in 2009, follows a group of working-class teens — played by Robert Sheehan, Iwan Rheon, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Lauren Socha and Antonia Thomas — who, while performing community service, are caught in a freak electrical storm that grants them superpowers. However, instead of teaming up to fight for justice, though, they continue their delinquent ways.

“We’re proud to introduce the U.S. television audience to this beloved series, which is like the mutant offspring of True Blood and X-Men,” Marc Leonard, Logo’s senior vice president of multiplatform programming, said in a statement. “Misfits is the perfect series for our Logo viewers who will appreciate how the show’s underdogs rise up, take center stage and start blurring the lines of morality, sexuality, gender and reality itself.”

The first season of Misfits, comprised of six one-hour episodes, premieres Thursday, July 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Logo.
