First Official Look at Merle Dixon in Season 3 of The Walking Dead

On the heels of those leaked set photos, AMC has released the first official image of veteran actor Michael Rooker as Merle Dixon in Season 3 of The Walking Dead.

Merle, who was forced to saw off his own hand early in the first season to escape a swarm of walkers, now sports a new, and apparently versatile, arm accessory. As we saw in the previous shot, the racist meth addict can attach a bayonet and, presumably, other weapons to the device, making Merle even more deadly.

The earlier set photo also showed him riding shotgun in the same vehicle we saw in the image released last week of David Morrissey as The Governor, suggesting Merle fell in with the Woodbury gang shortly after fleeing Atlanta — likely giving him plenty of time to devise payback for Rick, T-Dog and brother Daryl.

The Walking Dead returns in October on AMC.

Now granted I don’t know much about guns but wouldn’t it make more sense to have a left hand draw on the right side of your body? isn’t it awkward to draw from the same side? or is there some like golden rule that you don’t do that?
