Portia de Rossi to Play Lily Munster in NBC Reboot Mockingbird Lane

Although her pilot The Smart One wasn’t picked up by ABC, Portia de Rossi still has plenty on her acting plate. In addition to reuniting with her Arrested Development family, she’ll also become the all new Lily Munster of NBC’s reimagining of the 1960s sitcom, TVLine reports.

De Rossi joins the household of Mockingbird Lane that already includes Lily’s onscreen husband Herman (Jerry O’Connell), her father Grandpa (Eddie Izzard), her werewolf son Eddie (Mason Cook) and niece Marilyn (Charity Wakefield).

This new, more dramatic version of the characters is being spearheaded by Bryan Fuller, creator of Pushing Daisies, and blockbuster director/producer Bryan Singer. The series has been in the works for a few years now and after much tweaking will actually shoot the pilot in the near future.

After her work on Better Off Ted, I find she has a “I don’t understand it, but I find this woman ridiculously hot” quality to her. She’s just got this screen presence that I think works to make her hotter than she appears in still images.
