SPIDER-MANDATE: The Lowe-down on "Secret Wars," Tie-Ins and Stacey Lee
Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained has lost a fare number of actors, from Sacha Baron Cohen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell. But now the hotly anticipated Western is actually gaining a cast member — one who previously turned down a role.
Deadline reports that Jonah Hill, who had passed on the film to star in the upcoming Fox comedy The Watch, is now back on board, although in a different role. He originally was eyed to play Scotty Harmony, who loses Django’s wife (Kerry Washtington) to the nefarious plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Baron Cohen followed Hill as Scotty, but then he too left.
The Weinstein Company production, which opens Dec. 25, stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave turned bounty hunter determined to find and rescue his wife.
