This Sounds Familiar: HBO Could Revive Bored to Death As TV Movie
Fans of HBO’s canceled Bored to Death should take heart: There’s a chance the series might return in a slightly different form. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the cable channel is in early talks to revive the comedy as a television movie.
Bored to Death followed the adventures of Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman), a writer who also runs around as an unlicensed private investigator assisted by pals Ray (Zach Galifianakis) and George (Ted Danson). The series debuted in 2009 and lasted three seasons before getting the ax last year.
It should be noted, however, that this isn’t the first time there’s been rumblings of reviving a canceled HBO series as a movie: Carnivale, The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency and the beloved Deadwood had all been discussed as returning in this format, but none came to fruition.
