Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Jumping From Consoles to Big Screen
In the world of video games, few secret agents can match Sam Fisher in stealth skills and missions accomplished. But can the star of the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series from Ubisoft compare with cinematic heavy-hitters like James Bond or Jason Bourne? According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures are betting he can stack up pretty well, and have expressed interest in adapting Splinter Cell for the big screen. No deals have been announced.
After finding success with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Ubisoft and the author moved into the world of stealth gaming with 2002’s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. Sam Fisher stars as a highly trained operative who has appeared in six games, with a seventh called Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, set to come out next spring. To date, the franchise has sold roughly 22 million games.
