Battlestar Galactica star Edward James Olmos is in negotiations to play the villain in in 2 Guns, the Universal Pictures adaptation of the crime comic by Steven Grant and Mataes Santolouco, Variety reports. He’ll join a cast that includes Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Bill Paxton and Paula Patton.

Published in 2007 by BOOM! Studios, 2 Guns follows a DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who, unwittingly investigating each other, team up to steal money from the mob. Unfortunately they learn too late that the $50 million actually belongs to the CIA. Olmos would play Papi Greco, a dangerous Mexican drug lord.

Olmos, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in 1988’s Stand and Deliver, most recently appeared in The Green Hornet and America.
