Lost’s Jack Bender Helming Secretive Thriller Devolution
Some projects get announced based on a concept that wows readers while others reveal nothing about the plot, but gain interest thanks to the parties involved. Devolution from Legendary Pictures sounds like the latter.
While The Hollywood Reporter has no story elements to reveal, the people working behind the scenes are pretty intriguing. You’ve got Jack Bender, best known for directing TV series like Lost and Alcatraz, helming the project for the studio behind such films as The Dark Knight, 300 and The Hangover. But that’s not all: Bender’s working from a story based on an idea by World War Z author Max Brooks that’s being written by David Leslie Johnson (The Walking Dead, Wrath of the Titans).
With Bender dropping out of directing Jack Ryan to do the pilot for Syfy’s Rewind, Devolution will mark his big-screen debut after years of television. Let’s just hope they all have an easier time with this than Brooks’ other adaptation, the incredibly troubled World War Z.
