New Stills Reveal The Walking Dead’s Prison

Excitement for The Walking Dead’s third season continues to gain steam with fans chomping at the bit for more info. AMC has already revealed official photos Merle Dixon’s return and a first look at actress Danai Gurira as fan-favorite character Michonne. While the newest official photos don’t reveal any new characters, what they do show is just as exciting. Entertainment Weekly has posted two new stills of Rick, Glenn, Maggie and more battling walkers inside the Prison.

In The Walking Dead comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard, the prison served as the survivor’s base of operations following their departure from Herschel’s farm. During their stay at the prison, the survivors eventually add Michonne to the group and discover the threat of the Governor and his community of Woodbury.

“I’m incredibly proud of the prison,” showrunner Glen Mazzara told EW. “I think our crew has done a great job. It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is, the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.”

The Walking Dead season three premieres on AMC this fall.
