Warner Bros. Pushing Ahead With "Justice League Dark"
Skins alum Jack O’Connell has joined the cast of the Warner Bros. follow-up to 300, joining a cast that includes Eva Green, Joel Edgerton and Sullivan Stapleton. According to the Daily Mail, he’ll play a character named Calista.
Directed by Noam Murro from a script by 300 collaborators Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, the film is supposedly based on Xerxes, the upcoming Dark Horse miniseries by Frank Miller described as “a sweeping tale with gods and warriors” that takes place 10 years before Thermopylae, beginning with the legendary Battle of Marathon. However, recent indications are that the feature, previously referred to as Xerxes and 300: Battle of Artemisia, instead will follow the series of naval engagements that took place simultaneously with the more famous Battle of Thermopylae depicted in 300.
Best known for playing James Cook on the E4 drama Skins, the 21-year-old O’Connell has also appeared in Wuthering Heights, Wire in the Blood and This Is England.
The follow-up to 300 is set for release Aug. 2, 2013.
