CCI: Man of Steel Teaser Poster Arrives As First Footage Debuts

Following the screening this afternoon at Comic-Con International of the first footage from Man of Steel — it was so good that, according to The Hollywood Reporter, one fan was reduced to tears — Warner Bros. has released a new teaser poster for director Zack Snyder’s franchise reboot. Look for a full panel report shortly at Comic Book Resources.

Opening June 13, 2013, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Col. Hardy.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

    No.

I dont know if they were trying to making the costume texture to look like chain mail, but it looks more like a door mat.

  • Cover55555

I love this and hearing that its great is good news. But, I just can’t stand reboots constantly and rewatching the same origin story too often. I don’t care how many spins they can give it, in the end it’s usually the same.

I like the shot but why is yellow, black? I’m gonna have to explain to people ‘no it’s yellow, they…darkened it for some reason.’ Don’t get it.

Snyder has a crazy use of colors in his movies, they wanted a darker Supes, yellow wont allow that look, so thats probably why.

  • Thesimonhurt

    Marvel sucks

  • http://www.facebook.com/MattTriano Matt Triano

Fair enough, but those sections are most definitely yellow; the banner, the desktop image, the suit currently on display on the show floor all attest to that. Dunno, hope the proper poster is a little brighter on all fronts. We’ll see!

Maybe the costume is chain mail because it’s Kryptonian armor and since on Krypton they don’t have powers they need chain mail.

  • ShlomoBaggins

I dunno, looks like the kind of material that could take an ass-kicking and still keep going.

  • http://twitter.com/Cruzifixio Cruzifixio

     Yeah, love proper Supermen looks.

  • careyt

Marvel is much more solid overall these days than DC is. Plus this poster looks like crap and the costume material looks like a bad ripoff of spidermans costume. wtf is wrong with using spandex?

  • Deadmen24

he did play a hell of a job in immortals and if comic history has taught us all suits change but the man doesnt,,I Think it will be awesome myself

  • AquaBro

Cool!   I like the chain-mail effect.

  • life

it yellow in the comic con trailer

  • friendlyfire

Looks very cool! 10 out of 10

  • Timon Groot

    Looks like chain mail

  • Seven2100

im looking forward to it, but the costume is overly textured, its a little distracting, the eye should be drawn to the ‘S’ Symbol;. that said i hated Selina Kyle’s costume when i first saw it and now im kinda digging it (so long as it stays in the movies)

  • CogInTheWheel

That look friggin’ cool, I like the design

  • Shaunhiggins19

    everything

How well received was the footage of Man of Steel? One fan was literally brought to tears after seeing it, reduced to a blubbering mess as he said how much he loved it.”

This does not mean it’s good, as we also have internet clips of grown men crying to a panel of professional wrestlers saying it’s “real to me”. Also that costume looks awful, and please stop telling origin stories that EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY knows by heart.

Did they take the Nike slash out of the “S”?

  • Dkharris74

I am willing to see the film but it would be nice if the poster was painted or drawn. Nowadays no one remembers the poster of current movies after see it once. They just aren’t interesting anymore.

  • fanman

aside from the look of the costume, has anyone seen the actual trailer? zack snyder being involved with this already has me feeling it will suck, christopher nolan as a producer is cool but still not enough for me. 1 fan crying isn’t enough either.

Let’s not compare box offices here, because DC would have its ass properly handed over.  DC *does* have the potential to do good things, but they need to do some serious catching up, and need to make sure they’re putting 110% into each project.  Let’s face it, Green Lantern was crap.  All DC has at the moment is the Batman franchise and the promise of a good Superman film.  Maybe there’s a good Wonder Woman film in the future, but I don’t see how anyone is making the Flash interesting enough to fill a two hour film.  All I can say is, they (those in charge of Superman’s new franchise) need to seriously consider introducing Doomsday and stat.  You want to fill theater seats, well that’s the way to do it.  Hopefully they’ll expand their success with the new Batman reboot on the way.

  • careyt

can you explain why? spandex is what heroes have worn for a long long time, and this crap looks bad, just plain bad.
