Universal Conjures Ouija Writers

Bringing Ouija to the big screen might actually be more difficult than contacting a ghost. The original version of the film was penned by Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis (Lost, Tron: Legacy) for Universal Pictures before the project moved to Paramount Pictures, where McG (This Means War) was attached to helm. The director and studio couldn’t come to an agreement on the budget, so the movie went into development hell only for Universal to snatch the rights back up.

Variety reports the film, which is now being produced on a much smaller budget, is moving forward with Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (The Knowing, The Possession) pulling double duty as writers and directors. Plot details are nonexistent at this point, but considering producer Jason Blum shepherded Paranormal Activity from a small feature to a hit franchises, expect something along those lines.
