Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, creators of the long-running Smallville, look to be getting back into the super-man business. This time, however, their target isn’t a comic book superhero, but a cyborg — with Vin Diesel attached to star. Deadline reports that the pair is in final negotiations to polish the script for MGM’s The Machine, originally written by Night at the Museum collaborators Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.
The story revolves around a Pentagon-created humanoid robot developed as a walking weapon. After the project gets scrapped, the powers that be literally bury the bot only for it to get discovered by a kid 20 years later. He befriends the kid’s family and defends them once the government hears he’s back in action. Diesel is set to star as well as produce through his One Race Films.
