6-Minute Cloud Atlas Trailer Lands

Apple.com has premiered an engrossing six-minute trailer — yes, six minutes — for Cloud Atlas, the ambitious science fiction film written and directed by Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer and Andy Wachowski.

Based on the 2004 novel by David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas tells six nested stories that span the centuries, from the 1850s South Pacific to a far-flung post-apocalyptic future. Watch the trailer below or in HD (with directors’ commentary) at Apple.com.

The film, which opens Oct. 26, stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Zhou Xun , Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant.

Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.
