Thor: The Dark World Filming in UK As ‘Thursday Mourning’

Marvel and director Alan Taylor aren’t being overly sneaky when it comes to shooting scenes for Thor: The Dark World. Super Hero Hype got a copy of a letter informing residents around Bourne Wood in Lincolnshire, England, that a film with the working title Thursday Mourning is being shot in the area in August and September.

Here’s an excerpt:

We are writing to let you know about some filming about to be undertaken in Bourne Wood in the coming months. Please find a brief overview and introduction to this project.

“Thursday Mourning” is the working title of a major feature film. It is comic book adaptation set in another “fictional realm”.

We will be establishing a fictional village set in another realm, with yurts and village like dressing in the bowl. The sequence involves a battle between two kingdoms, ending in our comic book hero arriving to save the day. The sequence will involve a substantial amount of Stunts and controlled special effects all within the hours 0700 – 1900hrs.

We plan to use most of the areas that are usually occupied by film units for all our support vehicles. The sequence will involve approximately 300 extras who will arrive in the early hours prior to call time to go through costume and makeup.

We have to admit, they were pretty clever with that working title, as Thursday gets its name from Thor, and, well, lots of people (and possibly elves) will probably bite it in the sequel, resulting in some serious mourning.

Thor: The Dark World stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Zachary Levi. It opens Nov. 15, 2013.

The title makes me think that perhaps one major character will die.  Or is that too much of an obvious spoiler to be likely?

Oh, what a wonderful birthday present from my elder son when he got home from seeing THOR! He said: “Happy Birthday Mother, I saw you in Thor; were you in a blue costume? “Well, I must admit I did not have a clue what he was on about but said to him that he surely could not mistake his own mother so it must be me he saw! I then went through my credits list and realised that the working title ‘Thursday Mourning’ of the film is actually THOR, ha ha ha! :-) xx
