New Arrow Images Arrive

The CW has released new images from the pilot episode of Arrow, the superhero drama based on DC Comics Green Arrow, including an up-close look at star Stephen Amell with his camouflage-makeup mask.

Developed by Green Lantern screenwriters Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow centers on Oliver Queen, a wealthy young bad boy who, after spending five years shipwrecked on an island, returns to Starling City with a mastery of the bow and a determination to make a difference.

Amell (Hung) is joined by Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, Katie Cassidy (Supernatural, Melrose Place) as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey (Dexter) as John Diggle, Willa Holland (The O.C.) as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne (24) as Detective Quentin Lance.

Arrow premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Not bad, I’ll give it a chance.
That said, the facepaint-mask annoys me. It looks way goofier than an actual mask and I can’t grasp the logic behind it.

  • Roger

I think the logic behind it is that he’s getting more into a hunter vibe. I think that’s the point of him wearing a hood like he did when he was on the island.

  • FelixCat

I’m assuming because he was on an island hunting (and being hunted) he felt the need for camoflage and has carried that to the big city

I didn’t like the outfit at first, but it’s slowly growing on me.

  • Richard Casey

Ugh. And worse yet, it seems like they couldn’t even be bothered to cast someone who is actually blonde or at the very least DYE HIS FUCKING HAIR BLONDE!!

not good archery form in the last picture smh

  • Steve Lesic

Who cares? The new hawkeye #1 hes blonde, in the avengers he has black hair and both are really good. Seems like you’re trying to find reasons not to like it. I’m very excited for the pilot..

  • Chris Lee

Come on. How many grown ass men do you know with yellow blonde hair?

  • Jeffvieira

Book and comic interpretations in movies and TV have rarely been strict. There’s been a laundry list of horrible changes in other things to bitch about, but hair color…? Honestly, if you’re willing to be seriously annoyed by something like that it’s unlikely you’ll ever enjoy any adaptation.

  • Acstageman

I don’t think hair colour or wardrobe is the problem with the show. The apparent neglect of Ollie’s political beliefs in this rendition of the character are more of a concern to the character’s integrity than any of these superficial changes.

Still doesn’t make a lot of sense.  If it covered his entire face, while not fitting Green Arrow, it would have been a bit more logical.

As it stands, it’s weird (as well as probably being difficult to apply in a manner that looks consistent every time, I’d imagine).

Who is that bad blond Asian woman? The actress name and where have I seen her before?
