Warren Ellis Thriller Gun Machine Being Developed As TV Drama

Fox is developing a television drama based on Gun Machine, the upcoming novel by Warren Ellis, who will serve as an executive producer. According to Deadline, the series will be written by Trauma creator Dario Scardapane and produced by 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment.

Set to debut in January from Mulholland Books, Gun Machine is a thriller about a beleaguered New York City detective named John Tallow who unwittingly stumbles across an apartment filled with guns that can be each  be traced back to a different unsolved murder. He soon realizes that someone has been killing people for more than 20 years and storing the weapons for some inexplicable reason.

“Chernin and Fox pursued Gun Machine with great passion and intelligence, and I couldn’t be happier to be making this show with them,” the writer told the website.

Ellis’ acclaimed comic-book miniseries Global Frequency famously made it as far as the pilot stage in 2005 but was ultimately passed over by The WB. RED, his collaboration with Cully Hamner, served as the loose basis for the hit 2010 action-comedy starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich.
