Homeland Trailer Arrives: ‘I’ll Be Watching You’

Showtime has released a terrific new trailer for the second season of its Emmy-nominated thriller Homeland, made almost haunting by the use of the Scala & Kolacny Brothers cover of “I’ll Be Watching You.”

Based on the Israeli television series Prisoners of War, the drama stars Claire Danes as a brilliant CIA agent grappling with bipolar disorder who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of U.S solider Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) was a setup and may be connected to an al-Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. With Season 2, which begins Sept. 30, Carrie is no longer with the Agency, and struggles to put the pieces back together. But her fragile new life is disrupted with her former colleagues Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) and David Estes (David Harewood) come asking for help.

Homeland returns Sunday, Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

Um … yay!  That was quite a well done and unique trailer.  Way to build anticipation without giving away anything major.  Unless you consider the ending major, but you’d be a fool if you think that wasn’t going to happen at some point in the season.

Also, am I the only one that enjoyed how, once you got beyond the inital few eps, the show was less gratuitous and felt actually more … adult?  Hopefully more of that this season.
