Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
Bruce Willis, who plays a retired CIA agent in the hit action comedy RED and its upcoming sequel, may be called back into active duty.
Variety reports the actor is in negotiations to star in the CBS Films thriller American Assassin, an adaptation of the 2010 novel by Vince Flynn. It’s the 12th book in the popular series that centers on Mitch Rapp, a counter-terrorism operative employed first unofficially and then officially by the CIA.
American Assassin explores how a terrorist attack transformed Rapp from a promising college athlete into a trained killer. Willis would portray an agency operative who mentors Rapp. Once an agreement is reached with Willis, the search will begin for an actor to play the young assassin.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who worked with Willis on RED, will produce, with Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) directing from a screenplay by Mike Finch. Filming is set to begin in fall 2013.
