Tynion Promises Cassandra Cain, Grayson & Bluebird Are Vital to "Batman and Robin Eternal"
The Wolverine has just gotten a new cast member in the form of Olympic judo silver medalist Naoya Ogawa.
Multiple tweets had confirmed Ogawa was seen shooting on set (via Comic Book Movie), although it’s unclear exactly what role he is playing. Ogawa is a pretty big deal in Japan, and he’s likely been cast so the film can take advantage of his judo skills. CBM speculates that Ogawa will play a member of The Hand.
The Wolverine just recently got its first official synopsis courtesy of the official Fox Facebook page. It confirmed what we already speculated about the titular character’s journey to Japan, although it didn’t give us many specifics: “Based on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.”
Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, The Wolverine is based in part on the 1982 miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller and finds Logan battling ninjas and the politics of the Tokyo criminal underworld for the heart of his ex-lover, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord. The cast includes Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee. The Wolverine opens July 26, 2013.
