Daniel Craig to Star in At Least
Two More Bond Films After Skyfall
He’s visited Casino Royale, had his quantum of solace and is now getting ready to skyfall, but that won’t be the end of Daniel Craig‘s adventures as James Bond. MI6 is reporting that Craig will reprise his role as 007 in at least two more Bond films, bringing his total to five and the franchise to 25.
Sean Connery and Roger Moore are tied for the most turns as the MI6 agent, with seven appearances each (although one of Connery’s was technically unofficial). They’re followed by Pierce Brosnan with four, Timothy Dalton with two (for the moment tied with Craig) and George Lazenby with just one. It will be interesting to see if Craig’s films will be adaptations of Ian Fleming’s works or new stories like Skyfall.
Although there has been a four-year gap between Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, Sony Pictures and MGM plan to have the 24th James Bond movie out by late 2014. The two companies will continue to co-finance the Bond franchise through at least the 25th EON film.
Of course, we would technically say that Craig has another James Bond film under his belt, putting his total count up to six. None of the other Bonds can say that they were literally on Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall finds 007′s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) tested as her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, Bond must track down and destroy the threat, no matter what the personal cost. The film, which also stars Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Ola Rapace and Tonia Sotiropoulou, opens in the United Kingdom Oct. 26 and in the United States Nov. 9.
