Daniel Craig to Star in At Least Two More Bond Films After Skyfall

He’s visited Casino Royale, had his quantum of solace and is now getting ready to skyfall, but that won’t be the end of Daniel Craig‘s adventures as James Bond. MI6 is reporting that Craig will reprise his role as 007 in at least two more Bond films, bringing his total to five and the franchise to 25.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore are tied for the most turns as the MI6 agent, with seven appearances each (although one of Connery’s was technically unofficial). They’re followed by Pierce Brosnan with four, Timothy Dalton with two (for the moment tied with Craig) and George Lazenby with just one. It will be interesting to see if Craig’s films will be adaptations of Ian Fleming’s works or new stories like Skyfall.

Although there has been a four-year gap between Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, Sony Pictures and MGM plan to have the 24th James Bond movie out by late 2014. The two companies will continue to co-finance the Bond franchise through at least the 25th EON film.

Of course, we would technically say that Craig has another James Bond film under his belt, putting his total count up to six. None of the other Bonds can say that they were literally on Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall finds 007’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) tested as her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, Bond must track down and destroy the threat, no matter what the personal cost. The film, which also stars Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Ola Rapace and Tonia Sotiropoulou, opens in the United Kingdom Oct. 26 and in the United States Nov. 9.

    Since when does 2+1=6?

He has already done three 007 films, with Skyfall hitting this year. Then he has been contracted for two more, so he’ll definitely have FIVE films before all is said and done. And for being in the service, to them it counts as a sixth. There ya go.

The “service” he`s referring to is Craig`s stunt during the recent Olympics. 3 films + 1 Olympics stunt + 2 upcoming films = 6.

Dalton I believe probably would’ve done a third one had License To Kill been more successful. I think Property Of A Lady was going to be Dalton’s third one (Although apparentally he was up for Goldeneye early in that film’s stages). Also Brosnan wanted to do a fifth one (Which possibly would’ve been a Quentin Tarantino directed Casino Royale) but instead he was let go.

Hopefully Skyfall does well, it took them a while to get it made due to MGM’s problems and I think this film was nearly cancelled before they found a solution.

I wonder who will be doing the title song, or if maybe we’ll get an wordless orchestration by Thomas Newman (Like Dr.No and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service). We’ll probably find out later this month.

Dalton was never really meant to be a Bond. He received the role after Brosnan was forced to turn it down because Fox wouldn’t let him out of Remington Steele. (Which was on its way to cancellation until it was rumored that he would be the new Bond) Its one of the sad hollywood stories because Brosnan’s wife really wanted to see him as Bond and because of his contract, she died before GoldenEye

Dalton was first considered for the role before Brosnan was even heard of. In fact he originally turned the role because he thought he was to young. So Roger Moore got the role. It`s all on the bluray special features for The Living Daylights. Dalton`s Bond was the most accurate portrayal in relation to the books.

Dalton was suposed to be cast in Goldeneye but choose not to return because of the time that had passed since his last film, due to all the legal hassles. License to Kill`s success had nothing to do with him leaving the role. He just wanted to move on.
