The CW Debuts Arrow Pilot Images

Gearing up for the Oct. 10 series premiere, The CW has released seven new photos from the pilot for Arrow, the new superhero drama based on DC Comics’ Green Arrow. With the images of stars Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy arrives an updated description:

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

Developed by Green Lantern screenwriters Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow stars Stephen Amell (Hung) as Oliver Queen, Katie Cassidy (Supernatural, Melrose Place) as Laurel Lance, Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, David Ramsey (Dexter) as John Diggle, Willa Holland (The O.C.) as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne (24) as Detective Quentin Lance.

Arrow premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

They named a character Diggle? An indicator of what writer will be the biggest influence on the show?

“ By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness” really feels like Batman

Green Arrow has always been very, very similar to Batman.  He used to have an Arrow Car, an Arrow Signal and an Arrow Cave, for goshsakes.

They also have a “Judge Grell”  and will have other references as well. They have stated in multiple interviews that “year One” and “LongBow Hunters” are strong influences. Having seen the Pilot I would agree.

    That is one handsome Superhero…

Really? A shot of him abseiling into the arrow cave? They really have just carbon copied Batman Begins haven’t they.

Yeah, thirty odd years ago. Since then Green Arrow has become one of the most interesting, complex characters in the DC universe. Then of course the Nu52 happened and now Oliver Queen is a blonde Batman again.

I definitely think that Arrow has the most potential out of
all the new series debuting this fall. I can’t wait to see what this show is
all about! It’s a bummer that it airs on Wednesdays though, since that is the
one night that I work late at Dish. At least I know that my Hopper DVR won’t let me
miss a beat, since it has so much memory space that I never have to worry about
my hard drive being too full to record my shows. I think the CW may just have a
hit series on their hands with this one!
